The idea came together quietly. I was working with a wing form I had already created, thinking about movement and how we carry ourselves through life. That wing was originally designed alongside the idea of Nkyinkyim, an Adinkra concept about life’s twists and turns, and that sense of motion stayed with me. I wasn’t trying to say anything heavy. I wanted to challenge myself, to reinterpret a pattern I’d seen years earlier while traveling in Lagos, and let the wing become my own response to it.
